Quantinuum is hiring a Research Software Engineer Join our team to work on the compilation of fault-tolerant quantum software for the next generation of quantum computers.
Quantum software relies on quantum error correction, but engineers prefer the compiler to handle this complexity. We are upgrading our TKET compiler to incorporate fault-tolerant protocols and are seeking your help.
Your Role As part of our Cambridge-based compiler team, you will contribute to our quantum compilation toolchain, focusing on implementing fault-tolerant protocols. You will stay informed about the latest research in quantum error correction codes, fault-tolerant circuit design, and quantum compilation methods, while also conducting original research. Collaboration with scientists and engineers across Quantinuum will be key to integrating expertise into high-quality software for our team and customers.
Ideal Candidate Must Have Experience programming in Python, Rust, or C++, and willingness to learn new languages.
Comfort with graduate-level mathematics.
Ability to work independently, understanding technical research and translating ideas into code.
Ability to discuss and present new research ideas collaboratively.
Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
Nice to Have Knowledge of quantum computing, especially quantum error correction.
Experience with modern compiler frameworks like LLVM or MLIR.
Experience working in software development teams using version control and issue trackers.
