Responsibility for managing large and complex claims within the Intl claims portfolio. You will ensure the proper servicing and settlement of claims within your designated authority whilst working in partnership with team colleagues / claims management. You will report on large losses, loss development and loss trends and provide technical oversight of product lines within your portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Claims responsibility for a portfolio of large and complex claims, where they provide subject matter expertise. Adjusting and resolving claims to optimal resolution by utilizing creativity, technical skills, and sound judgment.
  • Ensuring that claims exposures are recognized and that claims are promptly evaluated and appropriately reported internally and externally. Ensures escalation of claims to Senior Management and stakeholders that fall within the escalation criteria.
  • Acting as point person and technical expert for assigned product lines: liaising with stakeholders, attending UW/Actuarial meetings, providing claims portfolio reports/feedback, creating/implementing claims management solutions to key accounts, assisting with policy wordings and other portfolio tasks that may be required.
  • Key activities will include
  • Reporting on the large loss portfolios or lines of business as assigned: this will include the preparation and presentation of Watchlist reports, Line of Business Reports, monthly large loss updates and ad hoc reports that may be required.
  • Assess and adjust claims in relation to policy coverage. Ensure that coverage is accurately assessed and communicated appropriately and promptly.
  • Ensure that reserving is correctly maintained and long-tail projects are properly managed and audited.
  • Appoint and control adjusters, solicitors and other experts as required, to ensure timely intervention and mitigation of claims.
  • Ensure that claims are handled promptly, fairly and with integrity in accordance with Navigators claims management guidelines. Ensure timely intervention and mitigation of losses.
  • Ensure that all claims are diarised and managed proactively.
  • Ensure that all potential coverage, liability and quantum issues are identified and pursued appropriately and expeditiously.
  • Maintain the highest standards of communication with claims management and underwriting to ensure that information on significant claims and claims trends is shared expeditiously. Ensure that large loss information is shared promptly and that large loss reports are issued appropriately.
  • Review London market claims and advices within system and maintain accurate claims records at all times.
  • Liaise with other departments as appropriate including but not limited to Underwriting; Finance; Actuaries and Reinsurance.
  • Attend market claim meetings as required.
  • Travel as may be necessary.
  • Liaise with Underwriters, brokers and policy holders on claims issues and driving successful claims outcomes for all parties.
  • Providing technical support and training to more junior member of the claims team.
  • Liaise with other offices as required.
  • Assist with reinsurance issues.
  • Assist with auditing of claims TPA's and external providers as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Lloyds minimum standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements relating to claims handling, in particular TCF.


Qualifications & Capabilities

  • Relevant claims handling experience.
  • Experience / technical knowledge of Energy classes.
  • Working knowledge of ECF2.
  • Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of Insurance and related issues through formal and informal learning / exams.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of FCA / PRA and Lloyds rules and guidelines.


Experience

  • Relevant claims handling experience with a London insurance company / Lloyds Syndicate.
