We are seeking a talented Future Satellite Payload Communications systems Engineer to join Airbus in Stevenage. This role offers a chance to be part of our innovative global team, shaping sustainable aerospace solutions for a safe and connected world. As part of the Future Payload Products team, you'll spearhead the development of next-gen satellite payloads, utilizing cutting-edge digital, RF, and optical technologies. Your expertise will drive the creation of world-class solutions, from R&D to flight programs, involving complex trade-offs, simulations, and supplier collaborations. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
You will be developing future satellite payloads including antennas, beamformers and on-board digital signal processors for space-based applications. You will ensure that RF, digital and photonics hardware combine with firmware and software to deliver future-proof systems to meet our customers’ needs.
Typical activities include:
- System design of payloads, including: ConOps, SotA, specification, architecture, etc.
- Simulation, analysis and laboratory prototyping of digital, photonics and RF systems
- Conducting and clearly communicating equipment and component research and trade-offs; including make/buy analyses
- Assessing, managing and steering supplier technology and equipment development
- Customer requirement specification and negotiation
- Concept feasibility and generation of new ideas, influencing Airbus roadmaps and strategy
- Sourcing funding through demonstrating value of products through proposals to institutions and agencies, and internally within Airbus.
ABOUT YOU

- Education background in a relevant engineering or related discipline such as networking or communications, electronic engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics
- Systems engineering, particularly in the field of communications, satellite communications, and/or secure communications
- System/equipment RF/digital/silicon hardware, firmware or software detailed design
- Terrestrial or space communications networking, e.g. radio access networks, 5GNTN
- Innovation and initiative to pursue new ideas, convince others, investigate potentialtechnologies/solutionsand drive change.
- Raising the TRL of digital, photonics and/or RF systems through software, firmware of hardware development.
