About The Role and Team

Quantum Motion is a fast-growing quantum computing start-up based in London founded by internationally renowned researchers from UCL and Oxford University with over 40 years’ experience in developing qubits and quantum computing architectures. Bringing together state-of-the-art cryogenic facilities and an outstanding interdisciplinary team, we are developing quantum processors based on industrial-grade silicon chips, with the potential to radically transform computing power in areas such as materials modelling, medicine, artificial intelligence and more.

Our Team

We recently earned the title of “Top 100 Startups worth watching in 2021” by EE Times, and our recent technology breakthroughs have been featured in The Telegraph, BBC and the New Statesman. Our chairman is the co-founder of Cadence and Synopsys, the two leading companies in the area of Electronic Design Automation. We’re backed by a team of top-tier investors including Oxford Sciences Innovations, INKEF Capital and Octopus Ventures, and we have so far raised over £16 million equity and grant funding.

We bring together the brightest quantum engineers, integrated circuit (IC) engineers and quantum computing theoreticians to create a unique, world-leading team, working together closely to maximise our combined expertise. Our collaborative and interdisciplinary culture is an ideal fit for anyone who thrives in a cutting-edge research and development environment focused on tackling big challenges and contributing to the development of scalable quantum computers based on silicon technology.

Our team of 120+ is based in London and Oxford: the majority of our experimental work is carried out in London and this is where we are expanding our operation, opening a new lab near Kings Cross this year.

Functions of the Role

The candidate will be responsible for providing project management to multidisciplinary scientific and engineering teams, both internally and externally for projects with academic research institutions, supply chain partners and customers. A particular focus of this role will be to provide managerial and administrative support for Analog/RF IC Design projects. The ideal candidate should have a flair for planning and organisation and will be highly-motivated to support the project team to deliver successful projects.

The ideal candidate has hands-on Analog IC design and project management experience. The candidate will be expected to work across multiple projects, and should be able to provide examples of times when they have demonstrated this successfully. The candidate must be adaptable and able to contribute in a highly agile environment. An ability to communicate well with physicists, IC engineers and project stakeholders is key. We would particularly welcome individuals who have previously managed Innovate UK or other government-funded projects, but this is not essential.

Experience - Essentials

  • Prepare project plans, schedules and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders across teams, with a primary focus on IC development projects. Track costs versus budget, and work closely with our financial/accounting team.

  • Manage interactions with aggregators and foundries regarding IC design and tapeouts.

  • Work with technical teams to manage development timelines and milestones, resolve problems and run project update meetings.

  • Prepare high-quality, clear and concise project reports for external funding agencies, management, clients, and/or others.

  • Review status updates from project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.

  • Identify risks and challenges to successful timely on-budget project execution, devise and implement risk mitigation strategies and communicate them to stakeholders.

  • Support proposal writing efforts, in particular with planning and budgeting.

Experience - Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience across all phases of an Analog ASIC design flow, spanning from initial architecture, schematic design, layout, fabrication and post-silicon validation.

  • Experience managing the technical interface with IC manufacturing partners.

  • 2+ years project management experience.

  • Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering hardware-intensive R&D projects.

  • Experience with scheduling and budget tracking with tools such as Jira and Excel.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effectively managing teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills, problem solving skills and analytical ability.

  • Applicants should thrive in a dynamic small business environment.

  • Strong financial awareness

Desirable (Nice To Haves)

  • Experience with government contract budgeting and cost reporting

  • Experience with IC-related contract management, including IP licensing, fabrication agreements, and NDAs

  • Understanding of the Digital IC design flow, including post-silicon testing phases.

  • Familiarity with the specialized RF IC design flow, including post-silicon testing phases.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools for Analog IC Design such as the Cadence Virtuoso platform.

Where to Advertise Quantum Computing Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising quantum computing jobs in the UK requires a fundamentally different approach to most technical hiring. The global talent pool is tiny — measured in thousands, not tens of thousands — and concentrated around a small number of university physics departments, national laboratories and well-funded hardware startups. Many of the strongest candidates hold PhDs in quantum physics, quantum information or adjacent disciplines and are embedded in academic or research communities that rarely intersect with mainstream job boards. General platforms are largely ineffective for quantum hiring. Specialist boards, academic channels and direct community outreach are not optional extras — they are the primary sourcing strategy. This guide, published by QuantumComputingJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise quantum computing roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

New Quantum Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and International Companies Advancing Quantum Careers

Quantum computing is no longer confined to research labs. As companies convert quantum theory into testable products, algorithms, and computing platforms, demand for professionals with quantum knowledge — whether physics, algorithms, software development, or hardware engineering — is rising. In 2026, quantum computing organisations are securing significant funding, industry partnerships, and contracts across sectors such as energy, finance, telecommunications, defence, and healthcare. For candidates exploring opportunities on www.QuantumComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are hiring now and scaling quantum teams is crucial. This article profiles the new and high‑growth quantum computing employers to watch in 2026, with a specific focus on UK‑based innovators, international firms with UK operations, and leading global quantum organisations.

How Many Quantum Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Quantum Computing Job?

Quantum computing is one of the most exciting frontiers in science and technology — and the job market reflects that excitement. But for aspiring practitioners, the sheer number of tools, frameworks, programming languages and hardware platforms can feel overwhelming. One job advert mentions Qiskit, another talks about Cirq or Pennylane. You see references to quantum annealers and superconducting qubits, to measurement hardware and simulators, to noise mitigation libraries and cloud platforms. It’s easy to conclude that unless you master every quantum tool, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most quantum computing hiring managers won’t explicitly tell you: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you can apply the right tools to solve real problems and explain why your solutions work. Tools matter, but context, understanding, judgement and results matter more. So how many quantum computing tools do you actually need to know to succeed in a job search? The real answer is significantly fewer than most people assume — and far more focused by role. This article breaks down what tools really matter in quantum jobs, which ones are core, which are role-specific, and how you can build a coherent toolkit that employers actually value.
