We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to be a member of the Electrical Engineering team developing the next-generation control systems for our commercial and developmental Quantum Computers. For this role, we are seeking software or electrical engineers with expertise in embedded software development, a solid understanding of control hardware, and experience working in a lab environment. This position will also support the test engineering team to enhance our automated test platform. Although the work will mostly involve software development and hardware test automation, the candidate should have a good understanding of the embedded hardware / software interfaces. This position allows for some work from home but will be primarily on site at ourBroomfield, Coloradolocation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
  • Leverage your understanding of EE systems to develop embedded software solutions and automated test platforms that integrate and control hardware for our quantum computers.
  • Collaborate with EE team and other engineering disciplines to solve a range of software/EE problems, including developing, debugging, testing and integration.
  • Successfully complete projects on-time with limited supervision
  • You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in embedded software development experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience working in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
  • Due to contractual requirements, must be a U.S. person (defined as: U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status)
  • We Value:

  • Masters/PhD degree in Software or Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
  • 6+ years of industry experience in an engineering or R&D environment preferred
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages
  • Experience developing embedded software for SoC FPGA’s using embedded Linux and Vitis SDK
  • Experience writing low-level device drivers for various interfaces (SPI, I2C, High Speed serial, Etc.)
  • Experience with Jenkins workflow development
  • Experience with Confluence, JIRA, and Smartsheets, especially with custom scripting
  • Strong interest in learning about new hardware & software tools. Must be an enthusiastic problem solver!
  • Ability to use typical lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, DMM, JTAG devices, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Basic understanding of HDL’s including Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL
  • Proficiency with software testing and deployment tools.
  • Proficiency in developing software for both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
