Main purpose

  • To assist management in the promotion, implementation and maintenance of product Quality standards, by thoroughly examining components from suppliers and internal manufacturing.

  • Ensure that appropriate action(s) are implemented and raising the necessary documentation for non-conforming parts.

  • To support inspection activities throughout the metrology and business manufacturing scope.

    Description of duties

  • Capable of carrying out inspection duties using inspection equipment including CMM (Coordinate-Measuring Machine) in required areas covered by the Quality Department to ensure that material received into and manufactured by the Company meet the required specifications.

  • Provide inspection support for quality tasks, including investigation and validation.

  • Provide technical inspection support for business functions, including customer FAI, NPI and testing.

  • Interpretation of simple and complex technical drawings including GD&T symbols and meanings, and compressive understanding of measurement methods to perform relevant inspection.

  • Strict adherence to Health & Safety requirements.

  • Ensures that the equipment used in the execution of the inspection is handled correctly, is properly calibrated where appropriate, and is stored after use in the designated storage area

  • Compiles reports (e.g. batch release reports, FAI’s, ISIR’s) for internal use as well as for customers.

  • Create inspection processes and instructions for undocumented inspection activities, using flow chart, visual and/or written guides. Ability to ‘walk the process’ and verify process steps.

  • Completes component sub-contract booking and transaction paperwork, management of batch route cards for traceability purposes.

  • Additional job duties as assigned.

    Skills and Experience

  • Being familiar with function and operation of CMM (QCT - Quantum), programming/input from CAD & other metrology measurement / gauging instruments.

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, technical specifications and technical assembly, welding and component drawings.

  • Strong understanding of GD&T, ability to interpret complex geometry and execution of relevant measurement techniques.

  • Providing a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude to help deliver the best results in sometime demanding conditions.

  • Candidate must have the ability to manage their own workload, including the expectations of their respective area ensuring part batch release and manufacturing delays are kept to a minimum.

  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, CMM Software), reports writing.

  • Flexible approach with ability to accept priority change as and when required
