Formore information about the Wolfson School, please visithttps://www.lboro.ac.uk/schools/meme/ We are seekingapplicants with experience in or across the followingareas: Energy EngineeringWe are seeking candidates to join theWolfson School’s Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology(CREST) to augment research and teaching activities atundergraduate and postgraduate level in renewable energy. Areas ofparticular interest include but are not limited to: wind power(onshore and offshore), water power (inland and marine), energystorage (thermal and synthetic fuels), and solar photovoltaics(systems and applications). Other expertise that complementsexisting activities shall also be considered. Applicants shouldhave a good understanding of clean energy industry requirements, interms of people and skills shortages, and technology research gaps.An active research programme with elements influencing teaching anda clear benefit to enhancing our graduates’ employability should bedemonstrable. CREST has successfully integrated research andtraining for more than 30 years, has extensive physical and dataresearch infrastructure shared across the Centre and University, ahigh degree of workplace satisfaction, and a strong interest incommunity. Informal details can be sought from: Dr Tom Betts,   Mechatronics & ControlWeare seeking candidates with a strong background in practicalControl Systems Engineering and/or Mechatronics. Your research orindustrial experience therefore could have a focus on areas such as(but not limited to): control theory; robust or adaptive control;predictive control; control applications; condition monitoring;dynamic modelling for control; system identification; machinelearning-based control; reinforcement learning; mechatronicsystems; or control of safety critical systems. Research experiencein the development and application of control and mechatronicsystems to industrial applications would be particularlyattractive. Informal details can be sought from: Dr JamesFleming,    SystemsEngineeringCandidates will have a focus on model-based systemsengineering (MBSE) and knowledge of and experience in applyingSystems Engineering methodology and processes, be able to lead aresearch programme, and deliver research informed teaching at thepostgraduate level in the area of MBSE.  Candidates will havean established track record within Systems Engineering. Experience of quantum technologies or nuclear and/or fusion energywould also be valued but notessential.   Loughborough University has deliveredresearch, master’s and doctoral level education in SystemsEngineering for more than 30 years that evolves with the changingneeds of industry.  The programme has a strong emphasis onMBSE, with a successful level 7 apprenticeship and doctoral centrethat attracts high quality students and is supported by more than40 industry and government organisations.  The successfulcandidate will demonstrate their ability to grow into a balancedprogramme of postgraduate level of teaching, direction of researchstudents, engagement with industry, and establishing or growing astrong research track record.  Engineering academics atLoughborough University have a long-standing tradition ofindustrial experience and engagement.
