We’re looking for a forward-thinking Quantum Safe Research Scientist to help shape and deliver the future of quantum-safe and cryptographically agile solutions. You’ll work across strategic research, solution design, and stakeholder engagement, supporting the bank’s growing capability in advanced cryptography.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Strategic Focus:Support the bank’s overall strategy for quantum safety and cryptographic agility, ensuring alignment with evolving technology and risk landscapes.
  • Project Contribution:Contribute to the delivery of ongoing initiatives in quantum-safe technologies and cryptographic agility across software and hardware domains.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work with internal business units to ensure delivery of cryptographic outcomes that align with best practices and operational needs.
  • Research Development:Help initiate, shape and lead new research projects and grant proposals, in close consultation with the quantum communications lead.
  • Solution Design:Lead the generation and development of innovative cryptographic solutions and system architectures, from concept through to implementation.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Cryptographic Awareness:Familiarity with cryptographic agility concepts and post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, standards, implementation and libraries, and an understanding of how they apply to security systems.
  • Technical Foundations:Research and development experience of, and experience in the in-production deployment of solutions in cybersecurity, applied cryptography, or cryptographic systems architecture, or related areas.
  • Systems Understanding:Familiarity with enterprise-level networks, systems, cloud concepts and architectures.
  • Research Mindset:An innovative and curious approach to cryptography, with an interest in exploring advanced areas such as zero-knowledge proofs, multiparty computation, or AI for cybersecurity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with technical teams, business leaders, and external partners.
