About the role

The Research Fellow will conduct and lead original research on the theory of quantum dynamics and intensity correlations of biomolecules and other complex molecular systems interacting with different photon and phonon environments such as phononic crystals.

This position is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

Candidates will need to upload a CV (including a list of publications), a statement of research interests and plans (2 pages maximum), and the contact information for two references. A cover letter can be included using the “Statement in Support of your Application” section of the online form.

Informal enquiries regarding the vacancy can be made to: Prof. Alexandra Olaya-Castro ()

About you

The successful applicant will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Theoretical Quantum Physics, Theoretical Quantum Optics, Theoretical Physical Chemistry, or a related subject.

Candidates should also have excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Knowledge of the theory of non-perturbative open quantum system dynamics and filtered photon quantum correlations is needed.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £38,- £41, per annum, inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
