I am representing a growing law firm in the Greater Manchester area who are seeking a HDR Paralegal to join their growing team.


Essential Requirements:

Be based in a commutable distance to Greater Manchester.

At least 6 months experience in a Paralegal role.

Knowledge or interest in Housing Disrepair

Efficient use of the case management system


About the Firm:

The firm ensures their clients interests are the main focus by providing exceptional client care from beginning to end, Striving to provide a tailored and individual service which meets each client’s needs whilst always aiming to make the experience of bringing a claim as smooth and easy as possible.


Responsibilities:

  • Managing a case load of approximately 100 housing disrepair cases from inception to conclusion.
  • Efficient use of the case management system (experience with Proclaim advantageous) to ensure effective use of works flows, linked actions and diary/task management.
  • Accurate and detailed time recording including updating/adding information and documents where necessary.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including keeping clients regularly updated, managing client expectations, providing clear legal advice and taking instructions.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication, organisational and technical skills. Ability to make own decisions and use initiative.
  • Working well within a team and being able to meet both individual and team targets.
  • Being able to work independently whilst also being able to identify any potentially problematic issues and raising these with the team leader as soon as possible.
  • Comprehensively reviewing surveyor’s reports, disclosure documents, counsel’s advice, and third-party correspondence.
  • Liaising with third parties, including surveyors, courts, and counsel to progress a claim.
  • Drafting court documents, pre and post litigation
  • Being a confident and proactive litigator with experience of litigating cases where necessary without delay and proceeding to trial.
  • Complying with court directions and other deadlines in line with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions as well as limitation dates.
  • Ability to continuously risk assess cases including, prospects, liability, and quantum.
