Quantinuum is building a new AI team, currently comprising 14 employees, and is talent pooling for future roles. Please register your interest to be considered for upcoming opportunities. Note that responses may be delayed as current positions are filled.

Designing, building, programming, and using quantum computers pose numerous challenges. Modern AI methods show promise in addressing these challenges, requiring quantum computing scientists to identify use cases and design experiments.

As a Machine Learning Scientist in the AI for Quantum team, your role involves designing ML experiments in collaboration with ML engineers and quantum scientists, developing tools and frameworks to apply AI techniques to quantum computing, and solving complex problems in the quantum stack. You will have access to Quantinuum’s top-tier quantum computers, with applications including circuit optimization, quantum algorithm design, and error mitigation or correction strategies.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will utilize state-of-the-art methods alongside quantum scientists to solve problems such as circuit compilation, error-correcting code discovery, and demonstrating quantum advantage by integrating quantum computers with AI systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Research novel use cases of machine learning and AI for quantum program synthesis.
  • Identify high-impact problems that Quantinuum can solve.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and architecture teams.
  • Present at scientific, technical, and industry conferences as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience applying AI to scientific problems.
  • Previous quantum computing experience.
  • Knowledge of literature on quantum advantage.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of quantum computing concepts or related fields like quantum many-body physics.
  • Experience with large-scale machine learning, including language models and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience with high-performance computing platforms.
