What is the job?

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Learning & Development Manager with all training activities at Thorlabs. We want to hear from candidates who are well organized, confident and responsive and who have strong Administration skills.

 

Working Hours:Monday to Friday 08.00 am – 16.30 pm – Hybrid working available following completion of training.

Who we are?

Thorlabs is a global, industry leading optical technologies company. We are experts in the design and manufacture or a range of innovative photonics products. We use these products in manufacturing and research, from fibre optics to piezo motors. We are the gold standard with optics laboratories worldwide. There are now 22 facilities across the world in 9 countries. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.

 

Where you will be working?

You will be working in our new purpose-built facility in Witchford, Ely as well as your home.​ Our purpose-built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.

Requirements

What we would like you to do/ to see…

·       Processing training requests and scheduling training events.

·       Answering training enquiries via email and telephone in a timely, professional manner.

·       Working with training providers to book courses and ensure purchase requisition are completed.

·       Ensuring evaluation of all courses takes place and is recorded.

·       Updating and Maintaining training records for all members of staff.

·       Co-ordinating delegates attending external training courses (e.g., bookings, joining instructions etc.).

·       Striving to ensure all courses are fully booked and cancellations are back filled quickly.

·       Ensuring that all internal and external training activities are scheduled, communicated, administered and recorded.

·       Utilising the LMS to record all training records and supporting staff to engage with it.

·       Ensure that every new employee is inducted on the LMS and all mandatory courses are assigned accurately to them according to their role and team.

·       Supporting users to access and complete courses on the LMS.

·       Generating and providing training reports on a monthly and ad hoc basis.

·       Supporting the implementation of new training programmes eg; Apprenticeships.
