What is the job?
This is a physical role with many manual handling operations within a given shift, running various material flow processes to enable our internal customer operations. Training will be given on each process.
Working Hours:Monday to Thursday 08:30 – 17:00 and Friday 07:00 – 14:00
What is essential to us…
· A practical ‘hands on’ approach with experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Ability to follow time bound Standard Work instructions.
· Attention to detail, ability to maintain focus and resolve problems to demonstrate excellent customer service.
· Ability to work in a team environment and working on a task rotation basis.
· Excellent verbal communication skills.
· Valid Counterbalance Truck training recognized by an accredited training body and ability to demonstrate recent experience.
· Full driving license.
Who we are?
Thorlabs is a global, industry leading optical technologies company. We are experts in the design and manufacture or a range of innovative photonics products. There are now 22 facilities across the world in 9 countries. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.
Where you will be working?
Our purpose-built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.
Requirements
What we would like you to do/ to see…
· Work safely and follow all site HSE guidelines
· Carry out multiple material flow processes to fulfil the production teams supermarkets, stock replenishment, Kanbans and waste removable needs. This includes:
- Cut Cardboard delivery to supermarket.
- Removal of production waste into their correct locations.
- Material and goods movement from delivery to point of use.
- Using various conveyancing methods within a yard, light, and heavy goods environment.
· Operating cardboard cutting machines and replenishment process.
· Follow electronic work flows to enable material flow, such as bar code scanning and MRP processes.
