Quantinuum is the world's largest integrated quantum company, pioneering powerful quantum computers and advanced software solutions. Quantinuum's technology drives breakthroughs in materials discovery, cybersecurity, and next-gen quantum AI. With approximately 500 employees, including 370+ scientists and engineers, Quantinuum leads the quantum computing revolution across continents.

We unite best-in-class software with high-fidelity hardware to accelerate quantum computing. With integrated full-stack technology, our world-class team is rapidly scaling quantum computing.

We are seeking aDirector – Producibility and Manufacturing COEin ourBroomfield, COlocation (preferably) or remote potential. Quantinuum believes that employees work better, more efficiently and more collaboratively in close proximity to other employees, where ideas can be exchanged readily, and decisions can be made more quickly for the benefit of the Company and our customers. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely, with approvals.

The quantum computing industry is embarking on a new phase of business. To meet this need, we must dramatically scale up the producibility and economy of this highly complex multiphysics technology. We are seeking a unique and exceptional leader to head Quantinuum's Producibility Center of Excellence (PCOE) for exactly this purpose. The role will have direct responsibility over a core engineering team (mechanical/manufacturing/quality/component), own the data and configuration management functions, and collaborate expertly with other scientific, design, and supply-chain functions to achieve our producibility goals. Key metrics of success will include time to delivery (on-time-to-request), inventory reduction, first-pass assembly yield, touch-labor reduction, and system-over-system cost reduction. The leader in this role must have a strong background in transitioning deep-tech laboratory prototypes into manufacturable and economical low-rate production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, and train best practices and processes for documenting and managing system design packages
  • Oversee quality control of design packages, ensuring completeness of documented configurations to allow ease of procurement, material management, export control, etc.
  • Partner with other functions such as supply chain, IT, and finance to ensure connectivity of enterprise tools such as design software, PLM, and SAP
  • Establish configuration and data management systems, and maintain operability thereof
  • Implement procedures for configuration control board, document release, change management
  • Develop and execute strategy around contracting manufacturing of mechanical systems
  • Execute and achieve YoY cost reduction targets and cycle time improvement targets for mechanical systems
  • Identify and execute on outsourcing opportunities
  • Ensure that mechanical design and build meet business goals for industrial aesthetics as well as functionality
  • Develop and implement strategies for successful and safe packaging and shipping of highly complex electromechanical and electro-optical systems
  • Be accountable for on-time delivery of mechanical systems against business needs
  • Partner with supply-chain on make-buy analyses for mechanical components and systems
  • Own and manage execution of the above plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource management
  • Identify department-level staffing needs and fill key gaps via hiring, mentorship, cross-training, and managing of 1st-line managers.
  • Perform talent resource reviews, give real-time coaching and feedback, succession planning, Skip-level meetings

  • Minimum 7+ years of industry experience developing mechanical systems and components
  • Minimum 2+ years of management experience with direct-reporting technical personnel

WE VALUE:

  • Work experience with hardware in a deep-tech field such as quantum computing, quantum sensing, or quantum networking is highly beneficial
  • Experience managing managers
  • Demonstrable expertise in mechanical design or analysis
  • Familiarity with Atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics and/or Quantum Computing
  • Experience in complex task management (cost, schedule, risk/opportunity, etc.)

Rural-Remote Quantum Computing Jobs: A New Frontier Beyond the Big Cities

A Fresh Outlook for Quantum Computing Professionals Quantum computing often conjures images of advanced laboratories, cryogenic chambers, and major research hubs in sprawling tech parks or prestigious universities. Historically, London and other big cities have indeed been magnets for quantum computing start-ups and innovation centres. However, the tide is turning. With the accelerated rise of remote work and enhanced digital infrastructure, professionals in this trailblazing field now find they can shape the future of quantum technology from rural and coastal regions across the UK. At QuantumComputingJobs.co.uk, we’ve watched a growing number of applicants intentionally seek out “tech jobs by the sea” or “quantum remote countryside” roles. The reasons are many: a desire for fresh air, a slower pace, reduced living costs, or the inspiration gleaned from scenic landscapes. Quantum computing might be at the cutting-edge of tech, but that doesn’t mean you must trade tranquillity for a daily commute in a bustling metropolis. Below, we explore why rural-remote quantum computing jobs are becoming more common, the benefits and challenges of living away from urban centres, and how to position yourself for success in this new frontier. If you’re ready to combine advanced research or engineering with the quiet allure of the countryside (or the coastal breeze), read on for actionable insights.
