Siemens Healthineers is one of the world's largest suppliers of technology to the healthcare industry and a leader in medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics and healthcare IT. At Siemens Magnet Technology in Eynsham, Oxfordshire we specialise in the design and manufacture of superconducting magnets for MRI scanners. We have an exciting opportunity to join our PLM team as Cryogenics Engineer. This role forms a crucial part of the R&D Management Team and if you're ready to take on a challenging role where your expertise and skills will make a significant impact, we encourage you to apply.
Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to develop exceptional and reliable new superconducting magnets, including feasibility study, concept generation, technical design, and realisation focusing on cryogenics management. To succeed, you should have engineering experience and the ability to apply a creative approach to engineering technologies together with the ability to analyse engineering problems from technical and commercial viewpoints and to identify solutions.
To give you an idea of how this inspiring role would look, here are some of the things you could expect to do:
• Inspire innovation & technical strategy
• Conceptual development of cryogenic systems
• Building/maintaining cryogenic systems
• Troubleshooting cryogenic systems, identification, & resolution of problems
• Use of finite element techniques for static & dynamic thermal modelling
Key requirements:
• Knowledge of thermodynamic principles at cryogenic temperatures
• Understanding of cryogenic material properties
• Analytical/practical design of low-temperature systems
• Understanding of refrigeration systems
• Understanding & design of vacuum systems
