Job Summary:
This role is part of the Global Markets Claims Group. You will be responsible for International Casualty and Healthcare claims working within a strong and renowned claims team.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Adjust a portfolio of UK and International Healthcare and Casualty claims in compliance with claims manuals and KPIs. On most accounts there will be an appointed Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and you will be responsible for managing cases that fall outside the Delegated Authority (DA). Typical duties will include:
- Policy coverage referrals. Ability to understand the terms and conditions of Casualty and Healthcare policy wordings, be able to draft policy declinature letters where necessary and follow set procedures in place for same.
- Direct Investigations in respect of policy coverage, liability, quantum and resolution in conjunction with the designated TPA and or legal panel.
- Set realistic claims reserves as per Allied World’s reserving philosophy and guidelines and make sure the TPA’s act within reserving guidelines.
- Pro-actively manage a case load, review incoming claim correspondence in a timely manner, formulating responses and driving good economic outcomes.
- Maintain a claims diary as per guidelines in place to allow for proactive claims management.
- Adhere to internal procedures (i.e. declinatures, large losses, complaints, fraud etc).
- Assess the economics of a case and driving early settlements where applicable.
- Attend conferences with counsel, joint settlement meetings and mediations where appropriate.
- Proactively manage vendors such as TPA’s, defence and coverage lawyers.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of binder business and have knowledge of Lloyd’s V5 claims bordereau management.
- Understand the Lloyd’s market and handle those claims on ECF via Trax.
- Work with our underwriting teams to provide updates, evaluate potential exposures and trends, and assist with development of policy wordings and other documents where required.
- Attend and present at new business opportunity meetings with underwriters and client meetings to discuss their claims where required.
- Report to Head of Casualty and Healthcare claims and other management throughout.
- Assist with coordination of and carrying out of internal and external audits.
- Manage recoveries where applicable.
- Produce and analyse claims reports including claim experiences.
- Represent the claims team at marketing events and present to the wider claims team on a chosen topic once a year
- Assist with special projects as required.
Essential Requirements:
- 3 years+ handling Casualty and or Healthcare claims (including large and complex losses).
- University degree preferred – insurance related courses or certificates are an advantage.
- Good understanding of Casualty and or healthcare policy wordings and claims handling.
- Experience of managing bordereau and monitoring files on binder business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills and being able to manage a portfolio of claims proactively.
- The Ability to work well and thrive within a team environment is key.
- Proven ability to work well with senior management, Insureds, brokers and service providers.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and bespoke claims systems such as ECF and Trax.
