UE08: £49,250.00 - £60,321.00 Per Annum.

CSE / School of Informatics.

Fixed Term Contract - From 1 April 2025 To September 2033.

Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week.

The Opportunity:

The University of Edinburgh is looking to appoint a Manager for the newly established EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantum Informatics. The successful candidate will join the School of Informatics Student Services and will provide exceptional leadership and support to students and academic staff involved in the programme.

You will work within an experienced Graduate School team already overseeing several other CDT programmes, and collaborate closely with the CDT Director and Business Development Manager. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee all aspects of a new CDT and take full ownership of developing effective recruitment and administrative processes while building strong relationships with external partners, including Oxford, Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt Universities, and UCL. 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

Essential:

Completion of a degree or equivalent formal training, plus relevant experience.

or

Substantial vocational experience demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles.

Experience in the planning and management of multi-year projects involving stakeholders from different organisations. Experience managing and monitoring budgets. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including demonstrable self-management and motivation, acting on own initiative and drive. Excellent problem-solving capabilities including evidence of ability to interpret policies and procedures to understand, identify gaps and implement processes. Evidence of excellent organisational abilities, combined with attention to detail, time. Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills with staff at all levels including senior management. Ability to communicate effectively with students of differing nationalities, advising on administrative and financial matters, often complex in nature. Experience of gathering, interpreting, and presenting data that has formed the basis of identifying specific actions for improvement. Experience of building excellent relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Desirable:

Completion of a management and/or project management qualification and/or financial training Knowledge and understanding of postgraduate research programme administration practices, processes, and procedures. Experience within a higher education environment, preferably postgraduate research student programme or student administration. Experience in managing a team and ability to mentor, coach, and motivate others. Experience of CDT programme management or administration. Experience in coordinating people, policies, and programmes across different Schools within a University, and between multiple Universities. Experience of developing and implementing initiatives to support student wellbeing and engagement. Experience of overseeing collaborations with many industry and university partners.
