We are seeking aSr. Advanced ASIC Engineerin ourBroomfield, CO,Location or remote potential to join the team developing our Apollo & Lumos quantum computers (Quantinuum system roadmap). The ideal candidate will be a mid-career Electrical engineer with a background in ASIC design, interaction with fabs, & integration with complex electrical systems. This role will work alongside other ASIC developers & 3rd party foundries to refine the system architecture, prototype & design ASICs in our Quantum computers. This role will be instrumental in developing and defining ASIC technologies to enable our systems. Candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, multi-functional team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with an integrated product team including external partners to architect and implement ASICs in service of Quantinuum’s quantum computer roadmap and goals.
  • Translate quantum computer requirements and customer needs into a comprehensive plan to integrate ASICs into the broader roadmap and address scalability challenges.
  • Experience deploying ASICs in challenging environments such as cryogenic temperatures, ultra-high vacuum and in proximity to noise-sensitive devices
  • Identify key enabling technology areas for ASIC development and manage feasibility studies, prototyping, and risk reduction activities to ensure their smooth introduction into the roadmap.
  • Plan and manage execution of ASIC development from concept to integration
  • Provide technical expertise that informs future product development and process improvements across the organization
  • Work in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
  • YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment
  • 3+ years of experience in analog ASIC tool flows and technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with the specification, development, verification and test of analog ASIC technologies
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
  • WE VALUE:

  • Masters/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of industry experience in an engineering or R&D environment
  • Full-custom analog ASIC development experience with proven ability to deliver into production
  • Hands-on experience in ASIC device models, design, synthesis, simulation, timing closure, and verification
  • Engineering design workflows for ASICs from requirements through multiple design review and tapeout
  • Experience with IC layout and high-density routing conditions
  • Experience with ASIC integration of digital and analog circuitry such as low-noise amplifiers, DACs/ADCs, passive/active signal filtering, and analog/digital control loops and low-noise switching
  • Experience in ASIC development for ultra-high vacuum and cryogenic environments with a deep understanding of how cryo temperatures affect circuit performance
  • Experience with ASIC prototyping using FPGAs and/or analog circuits
  • Expertise in ASIC power, performance, and area trade-offs
  • Experience with the electrical engineering challenges with Quantum Computers, especially those with ion-trap architectures, and how noise from electrical systems contributes to overall error rates.
  • Proven leadership ability that includes program execution and skills development and mentoring of other engineers and technicians
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate decisive business impact and continuous drive for improvement in an ambiguous environment
  • Strong communication skills and “right size” design documentation
