Quantum is now, and it's built here.

Oxford Ionics, now part of IonQ, is pioneering the next generation of quantum computing. Using our world-leading trapped-ion technology, we’re building the most powerful, accurate and reliable quantum systems to tackle problems that today’s supercomputers cannot solve. Joining Oxford Ionics means becoming part of a global IonQ team that is transforming the future of quantum technology - faster, at scale, and with real world impact.

IonQ, Inc. [NYSE: IONQ] is the world’s leading quantum company delivering solutions to solve the world’s most complex problems. IonQ’s newest generation quantum computers, IonQ Tempo and IonQ Forte Enterprise, are the latest in cutting-edge systems that have been helping customers and partners such as Amazon Web Services, AstraZeneca, and NVIDIA achieve 20x performance results. The company achieved 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity, setting a world record in quantum computing performance in 2025.

The company is accelerating its technology roadmap and intends to deliver the world’s most powerful quantum computers with 2 million qubits by 2030 to accelerate innovation in drug discovery, materials science, financial modelling, logistics, cybersecurity, and defence. IonQ’s advancements in quantum networking position the company as a leader in building the quantum internet.

What to Expect:

IonQ is building the world’s leading quantum computing company, and we are looking for a Senior Account Executive to help grow our commercial presence across the UKI.

This is a high-impact, market-building role at the front edge of quantum adoption. You will be responsible for identifying, developing and closing strategic opportunities across enterprise, government, defence, research, HPC, AI, cloud and advanced technology markets. The role requires someone who can operate with senior technical and commercial stakeholders, shape complex opportunities from first principles, and position IonQ as a critical partner in next-generation compute.

You will bring IonQ’s platform offering across quantum hardware, software, networking and applications to organisations looking to solve problems that sit beyond the limits of classical computing. This is not a conventional sales role. You will be helping customers understand where quantum can create value, how it fits into their long-term technology strategy, and why IonQ is the right partner to help them get there.

What you'll be responsible for:

ou will build and own a high value pipeline across the UK, developing relationships with senior leaders across enterprise, government, defence, hyperscalers, AI labs, HPC centres, national research organisations and strategic technology partners.

You will lead complex sales cycles from early market education and opportunity qualification through to technical discovery, proposal development, negotiation and contract execution. You will work closely with IonQ’s Product, Engineering, Field Engineering and Customer Success teams to translate technical capability into clear customer value.

This role will require you to create new demand, not simply respond to existing buying cycles. You will need to educate the market, build trust with technical and executive stakeholders and navigate complex, multi year, multi stakeholder opportunities.

Requirements

We are looking for a senior commercial operator with significant experience selling complex, high value technology into enterprise, government or infrastructure led environments. You will likely have experience in deep tech, cloud, AI, HPC, advanced infrastructure, networking, defence, research, engineering, scientific computing or another technically sophisticated market.

You should bring a strong track record of building pipeline, opening new markets and closing complex, multi-million-pound opportunities. You will be comfortable engaging with CTOs, CIOs, infrastructure leaders, research organisations, technical buyers and commercial decision makers.

You do not need to be a quantum expert from day one, but you must be technically curious, credible with sophisticated customers, and able to translate complex technology into business value.

Experience selling emerging or technically complex products into the UK market would be highly valuable, particularly where the buying process involves technical validation, long-term strategic planning and senior stakeholder alignment.

Benefits

Be part of a team that’s shaping the future of quantum. We offer more than just a role, you’ll join a world-class community of scientists, engineers and innovators working to unlock the full potential of quantum computing.

We offer a range of benefits, including opportunities to further your career alongside industry leaders, a competitive salary with IonQ stock options, an annual performance bonus, generous annual leave, flexible hybrid working, private medical and dental insurance for you and your family, and much more.

Join us and be part of the future of quantum computing.

We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Quantum Jobs in the UK: Roles, Skills, Salaries and How to Get Hired (2026 Guide)

Quantum Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and skills across quantum computing, communications, sensing and cryptography — and how to get hired. In the UK, most quantum jobs cluster around hubs such as London, Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol and Edinburgh, with common titles including Quantum Software Engineer, Quantum Algorithm Developer, Quantum Hardware Engineer and Post‑Quantum Cryptography Specialist. The easiest way to browse live quantum jobs is via specialist boards like QuantumComputingJobs.co.uk, which curate roles specifically in this field so you are not lost in general STEM listings. This guide covers everything you need to know about quantum jobs in the UK in 2026: what roles exist, which skills are in demand, typical salary ranges, and how to position yourself to get hired.

Where to Advertise Quantum Computing Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise quantum computing jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, academic networks and consortia that reach quantum hardware and Qiskit talent. The global talent pool is tiny — measured in thousands, not tens of thousands — and concentrated around a small number of university physics departments, national laboratories and well-funded hardware startups. Many of the strongest candidates hold PhDs in quantum physics, quantum information or adjacent disciplines and are embedded in academic or research communities that rarely intersect with mainstream job boards. General platforms are largely ineffective for quantum hiring. Specialist boards, academic channels and direct community outreach are not optional extras — they are the primary sourcing strategy. This guide, published by QuantumComputingJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise quantum computing roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
