Our client is at the forefront of free space optical communications, with a product portfolio spanning emerging technologies from photonic integrated circuits through to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions. Their optical communications systems are deployed within satellite communications platforms, placing them firmly at the cutting edge of the sector.

As part of continued growth, our client is seeking a suitably motivated Senior Analog IC Designer to join their team.

What you’ll do

Design, simulate and verify a broad range of analog circuits for high-speed ICs and photonic integrated circuits (PICs), including:

* Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIAs)

* Limiting Amplifiers

* Laser and modulator drivers

* High-speed data converters (ADCs/DACs)

* Voltage and current references, including bandgap references

* Low-noise amplifiers (LNAs)

* Power management units (PMUs)

You will:

Collaborate closely with photonic device engineers to understand device characteristics and optimise analog circuit performance for seamless integration

Work with digital and mixed-signal teams to define interfaces and ensure system functionality

Conduct detailed simulations to validate performance, stability and robustness across process, voltage and temperature variations

Develop and execute test plans for characterisation and validation in both IC and PIC environments

Oversee layout and contribute to optimisation of critical analog blocks

Support architectural definition and future product specifications

Participate in design reviews and mentor junior engineers

Stay current with advancements in analog IC design and integrated photonics

Maintain clear documentation of designs, simulations and test results

Who you are

* Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline

* 5+ years’ experience in analog IC design, with proven tape-outs in advanced CMOS or BiCMOS nodes

* Strong experience in high-speed analog design (e.g. >10Gbps)

* Deep understanding of semiconductor device physics and analog fundamentals

* Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools (such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Custom Compiler, Keysight ADS)

* Strong grasp of layout effects and parasitic extraction

* Experience with mixed-signal simulation and verification

* Exposure to digitally assisted analog and calibration loops

* Familiarity with EM simulation tools (e.g. Cadence EMX, Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS)

* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

* Effective collaborator with clear communication skills

Desirable experience

* Analog design for photonic integrated circuits or optical communication systems

* Familiarity with photonic technologies such as Silicon Photonics, InP or SiN

* High-frequency packaging and PCB considerations for high-speed signals

* Knowledge of DfM and DfT methodologies

* Scripting (Python, Perl) for automation and analysis

What’s in it for you
