About the Role

Location: Bristol
Salary: £46,000 - £56,000
Closing date: 31st August 2025 - we encourage early applications

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Specialist to join our advanced cryptography team. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical understanding of cryptographic protocols, with a strong focus on post-quantum algorithms and their integration into secure systems. You will play a key role in assessing the security risk associated with PQC threats and provide advice on cryptographic solutions that are resilient to quantum computing threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, including those standardized by NIST and other bodies.
  • Design and implement cryptographic protocols that integrate PQC primitives.
  • Conduct security analyses and performance evaluations of cryptographic systems.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineering teams to integrate PQC into products and infrastructure.
  • Stay current with developments in quantum computing and cryptographic research.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and represent the company in academic and industry forums.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in Cryptography, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of classical and post-quantum cryptographic algorithms (e.g., lattice-based, code-based, multivariate, hash-based).
  • Experience with cryptographic libraries and tools (e.g., OpenSSL, liboqs, Bouncy Castle).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Familiarity with cryptographic protocol design (e.g., TLS, VPNs, secure messaging).
  • Demonstrate an ability to conduct rigorous security analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Contributions to cryptographic research or open-source projects.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST PQC, ISO/IEC 18033).
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
  • Knowledge of security risk assessments aligned to industry standards (NIST RMF, ISO 27001)

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and will be required to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
