We are seeking anIT Systems Engineer II, in ourBroomfield, CO, location. Quantinuum believes that employees work better, more efficiently, and more collaboratively in close proximity to other employees, where ideas can be exchanged readily, and decisions can be made more quickly for the benefit of the Company and our customers. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week, with approval.

You will function as a seasoned and proven system engineer for all systems-focused initiatives and projects across the globe, which include server-based computing, backups and disaster recovery, and related infrastructure. This role will report to the IT Engineering Manager and will work in collaboration with the Systems Lead in addition to our global IT organization, including engineering, enterprise apps, and the support team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the server infrastructure, virtualization, and storage. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth instantiation, operation, security, compliance, and optimization of our IT systems.

Your hands-on expertise will be critical in helping to execute an enterprise-wide IT strategy and roadmap that is aligned and positioned to innovate and deliver compelling business value on a global scale. You will work to ensure stakeholders have access to our systems and services whenever and wherever they need them.

You will be supported by a global IT organization, providing innovative solutions and services to scientific teams to increase collaboration, productivity, and development of quantum software, applications, and hardware, which will have a future impact on our everyday lives. Previous experience in a relatable role working as part of a high-performing team is preferred. A natural desire to collaborate, problem solve, and exceed end-user expectations is ideal for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on engagement designing, implementing, and supporting our global infrastructure including server, virtualization, storage, hardware, automation, and monitoring.

  • Manage, administer the organization's server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and related software.

  • Implement monitoring tools and services to oversee system performance, identify issues, and implement necessary measures to optimize system performance and reliability.

  • Oversee user accounts, permissions, and access rights, ensuring proper security controls and adherence to organizational policies.

  • Conduct regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing to ensure business continuity.

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for network and system-related issues escalated from the help desk or junior team members.

  • Investigate and resolve complex network and system problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors as needed.

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices, applying them to enhance network and system performance.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network and system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to ensure knowledge transfer and maintain system integrity.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary changes to ensure optimal performance and availability.

  • Ability to respond to and resolve after-hours events or crises.

  • YOU MUST HAVE:

  • High School Diploma/GED minimum required

  • 5+ years’ experience in IT Service areas minimum required

  • 3+ years’ experience supporting critical systems infrastructure minimum required

  • 3+ years’ experience selecting, configuring, and managing Nutanix Hyper-converged infrastructure minimum required

  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.

  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

  • WE VALUE:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred.

  • Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of IT systems, services, and hardware encompassing on-premises and cloud-based server and virtualization architectures.

  • Certifications such as Nutanix NCA or NCP-MCI Preferred, NCP-CN, or related certifications are highly desirable.

  • Documented expertise in clustering, including server administration (Windows/Linux), virtualization technologies (Nutanix, VMware, or Hyper-V), and storage systems.

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and architectures, preferably with experience in Azure and/or AWS.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • High level of experience administering and deploying Linux in an enterprise environment, highly desired (Ubuntu, RHEL, Rocky Linux).

  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration is a plus (e.g., Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Knowledge of automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible) for automation and task efficiency.
