Credit Hire Claims Handler – Newcastle / Hybrid

We’re recruiting for a growing legal team that actually knows what fast-track credit hire litigation looks like in the real world.

This is a Claims Handler role for someone with at least 12 months litigation experience Credit hire experience helps, but it’s not a deal breaker, they’ll train you if the fundamentals are there. Busy desk, proper caseload, no hiding behind process documents.

What you’ll actually be doing day to day

• Reviewing new matters and making early calls on whether they fly or die

• Running fast-track litigated files end to end, not cherry-picking the easy bits

• Managing limitation dates, trials, directions and all the things that bite if you miss them

• Keeping files clean, accurate and defensible, not “updated last week, probably”

• Speaking to witnesses, experts, Counsel, courts, insurers and other solicitors • Preparing matters for CMCs, assessments and hearings

• Updating clients and introducers without being chased

• Flagging disbursements early so accounts do not have a meltdown later

• Getting stuck into credit hire issues around need, rate, period and enforceability

• Helping the wider team when needed, because no one likes a passenger

What we’re looking for,

• Minimum 1 year litigation experience, fast-track experience ideal

• Credit hire exposure is a plus, not a must • Solid grasp of liability, causation and quantum • Comfortable drafting basic schedules of loss without panicking

• Confident dealing with Counsel and experts, or at least not intimidated by them

• Organised, deadline-aware and capable of juggling competing priorities

• Decent IT skills and experience with case management systems

• Detail-focused without disappearing down rabbit holes • Calm under pressure, even when the diary says otherwise
