Infleqtion is a global quantum technology company solving the world’s most challenging problems. The company harnesses quantum mechanics to build and integrate quantum computers, sensors, and networks. From fundamental physics to leading edge commercial products, Infleqtion enables “quantum everywhere” through our ecosystem of devices and platforms. We are recruiting for a Software Developer for our quantum computing platform.

LOCATION

Infleqtion has offices in the USA, United Kingdom and Australia. This is a full-time position split between our Kidlington, Oxford office and the National Quantum Computing Centre, Harwell. Our flexible working policy enables all full-time employees to work up to 2 days a week from home if work permits.

POSITION SUMMARY

Infleqtion UK is looking for a software developer with quantum computing experience to contribute to the maintenance, testing and development of our flagship full stack quantum computer, located at the NQCC on the Harwell Campus. The developer will work on the full quantum computing stack, including areas such as:

  • Modelling of real-world problems and developing quantum algorithms to solve them;
  • Developing tools for compiling quantum circuits to device specific gate sets, considering noise mitigation/reduction and error correction;
  • Maintaining and improving Superstaq, Infleqtion’s cloud interface for quantum computing;
  • Implementing and studying verification and benchmarking routines for quantum devices, particularly those relevant to neutral atom based digital quantum computers;

The successful candidate will be an essential part of a growing UK software team with the opportunity to make impactful contributions to a world leading quantum computer.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties.

  • Work with a distributed team of developers across UK, US and AUS to deploy software to our cloud platform (Superstaq) using industry-grade software engineering procedures including documentation, linting, testing, and type-checking.
  • Work with a global team of physicists and embedded system engineers to develop experimental tools for use on our quantum computers.
  • Interface with customers of Superstaq to understand their needs and support them in a timely fashion.
  • Research and implement verification and benchmarking routines for quantum devices and develop tools for analysing and presenting results.
  • Conduct R&D toward cutting-edge advances in boarder quantum technologies.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD-level training in computer science, engineering, physics, maths or a directly related field;
  • Must have a strong familiarity with quantum computing. Demonstrable experience working with Cirq and/or Qiskit is preferable. Ideal candidates will have experience developing software for neutral atom-based quantum hardware
  • Must have experience writing python software, demonstrating software engineering best practices. Experience with other languages such as Rust would be advantageous;
  • Experience working with databases and cloud deployment (e.g. using Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience developing and deploying machine learning models and tools for industrial applications.
  • Passion for collaborating to solve complex problems in a highly technical and scientific environment. Strong scientific integrity is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with all levels of an organization including both technical and non-technical;

Benefits

In addition to your base compensation, we offer a generous Total Rewards program which includes:

  • Competitive salary

How to Find Hidden Quantum Computing Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like BCS, IOP & More

Quantum computing is one of the most exciting and disruptive fields in science and technology. As the UK invests in a national quantum strategy—with funding for hardware, software, cryptography, and applications—demand for quantum talent is growing rapidly. But here’s what most job seekers miss: many quantum computing roles are never posted on public job boards. Instead, opportunities are shared quietly through research partnerships, industry working groups, spinout collaborations, and professional bodies. In this guide, we’ll show you how to access hidden quantum computing jobs in the UK by leveraging organisations like the Institute of Physics (IOP), BCS, Quantum Technology Hubs, UKRI, and other key communities. We’ll explore how to use membership directories, SIGs (Special Interest Groups), CPD events, and project funding announcements to gain visibility, build relationships, and find roles long before they’re advertised.

How to Get a Better Quantum Computing Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy in the emerging field of quantum computing can feel particularly discouraging, especially after years of specialised training and research. But as the UK continues to invest in quantum technologies across academia, defence, computing and cryptography, new roles are opening in both startups and national programmes. Whether you're a physicist, quantum software engineer, hardware specialist, or quantum algorithm researcher, this guide will help you turn redundancy into an opportunity for career growth.

Quantum Computing Jobs Salary Calculator 2025: Work Out Your True Worth in Seconds

Why yesterday’s pay survey is meaningless in today’s quantum landscape Ask a Quantum Software Engineer debugging Qiskit kernels at midnight, a Cryogenic Hardware Engineer coaxing qubits below 10 mK, or a Quantum Algorithm Researcher squeezing decoherence budgets: “Am I earning what I deserve?” The honest answer shifts faster than a Rabi oscillation. Since early 2024, the UK Government funded £2.5 billion across its National Quantum Strategy, Amazon Braket and Azure Quantum slashed circuit prices, & post‑quantum cryptography mandates yanked quantum literacy into cyber road‑maps. Each shock nudges salary bands. Any PDF salary guide printed last year looks like an outdated calibration curve—blind to the silicon spin‑qubit breakthroughs in Cambridge, the Oxford ion‑trap scale‑ups, or the London quantum‑software unicorn that closed a £200 million Series C. To swap guesswork for evidence, QuantumComputingJobs.co.uk has distilled a transparent, three‑factor formula. Feed in your discipline, region, & seniority & you’ll instantly see a realistic 2025 salary benchmark—no stale averages, no vague “competitive” claims. This article unpacks that formula, highlights the forces pushing quantum‑computing pay skywards, & gives five practical moves to lift your market value inside ninety days.
