About the role

This is a hands-on role focused on designing effective electronic solutions as part of a cross disciplinary team, delivering industry leading laser solutions to our customers. This includes all phases of product development from initial concept through to manufacturing, for both new products and updates to existing products to meet new specifications and the needs of new markets.


Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:


Design Leadership: Take ownership of the development of the electronics that drive bespoke laser systems, taking systems through the full product lifecycle and ensuring that our innovative solutions meet product and market needs.

Collaboration within and across teams:Work closely with other engineering disciplines to design, test, and refine product solutions, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Embrace and support an environment of continuous learning and development, including supporting and mentoring other members of the team.

Project and Process Management:Oversee various aspects of engineering projects, including maintaining accurate controls, procedures, and specifications to ensure project milestones are met on time.

Customer-Centric Design:Incorporate customer requirements throughout the design life cycle, ensuring products meet user needs and expectations.

Prototyping and Testing:Take a hands-on role in designing, building and testing prototype electronics and systems, verify that specifications are met, and ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards is achieved.

Documentation and Compliance:Responsible for the thorough documentation and release of work through PLM/PDM systems, ensuring all designs meet safety and compliance standards.

Continuous Improvement:Seek and implement strategies to improve product design, internal and production processes, and efficiency across the team and business.


About you


As a new addition to the electronics team, you will bring a blend of technical expertise in analogue and digital electronics and take ownership of the development of our electronics.


What you bring:

  • Relevant engineering degree or industry experience to a similar level
  • Electronic design experience in a commercial, industrial, military or similar setting
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout preferably in Altium or equivalent, or be willing to learn
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality and reliability
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, across other engineering disciplines and at all levels of the organisation

  • Working with suppliers and external partners
  • Ownership of electronics systems over the complete product life cycle, including hands-on experience developing, building and testing designs and products
  • Generating design documentation including instructions and test procedures
  • Bringing up boards and using test equipment


Additional requirements

Business English is required. You may also be required to travel up to 10% annually, potentially globally.
