Job Description

Quantum computing is entering a new era of relevance and real-world impact. At Endava, we’re not building quantum computers – we’re building quantum capability. Through our Dava.X Quantum Pod, we help organizations explore, evaluate, and implement quantum technologies that solve real-world challenges and future-proof their operations.

We are looking for a Senior Consultant – Quantum Engineering to join this pioneering team. Reporting to the Global Head of Innovation & Quantum, this is an exciting opportunity for someone with deep technical expertise and a strong consulting mindset to help shape the quantum future across industries. You will help develop our cutting-edge quantum computing and cybersecurity capabilities, provide expert advice to clients, and deliver quantum solutions across various industries. You’ll work across emerging domains like optimization, post-quantum security, and hybrid quantum-classical systems – all while collaborating with leading technology providers and our global clients.

This is a growth role. You will be instrumental in delivering value out of both the Quantum and Cybersecurity Pods, and carving out new pathways. It’s your chance to help build something bold, from the ground up.   We’re not just exploring what’s possible – we’re helping define what’s next.

  • Create cross-Pod capability, in particular that which lies at the intersection of quantum and cybersecurity with a focus on post-quantum encryption and quantum cryptography.
  • Lead and deliver on proofs-of-concept – both internal Endava POCs to demonstrate capability, and client POCs to demonstrate quantum advantage – across industries such as logistics, finance, healthcare, telco and beyond.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, advising clients on quantum strategies and helping them identify high-value opportunities aligned with their business goals.
  • Deliver high quality quantum consulting engagements, contributing to all stages from client onboarding to implementation.
  • Support pre-sales and early client engagement efforts by shaping proposals, scoping quantum opportunities and contributing to solution architecture.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of client needs and design tailored quantum computing solutions.
  • Develop quantum, or hybrid quantum-classical, software or applications for clients, as a lead member of a broader delivery team.
  • Design, implement and optimize quantum algorithms for real-world challenges across industries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum technologies into existing client infrastructures.
  • Stay abreast of quantum computing advancements – across hardware, software, and regulation – and translate key trends into practical insights for clients and colleagues.
  • Evangelize quantum within Endava, helping teams across regions and industries understand the value and potential of quantum computing, and how to spot opportunities.
  • Support upskilling efforts through coaching, mentoring and creating reusable resources to build internal quantum capability.
  • Present complex quantum concepts and project outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Travel to client sites as needed to provide on-site consultation and support.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree or higher in Quantum Engineering, Quantum Information Science, Physics or a closely related field
  • 3-8 years of experience in quantum computing, cybersecurity or a related field, ideally with exposure to both industry and research environments
  • Advanced knowledge of quantum mechanics and quantum computing principles
  • Proficiency in quantum programming languages such as Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#
  • Proficiency in quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, and fault-tolerant quantum computing
  • Cybersecurity awareness, especially around threat modeling, encryption standards, and quantum-safe protocols
  • Experience in quantum software development and optimization
  • In-depth understanding of quantum hardware architectures and their limitations
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Experience delivering solutionsas part of multi-disciplinary teams, ideally in a consulting or client-facing environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex quantum concepts to diverse audiences
  • A collaborative spirit, a growth mindset, and curiosity about solving problems in new ways.
  • Bonus points for: Industry certifications (e.g. IBM Quantum Developer Certification), experience with post-quantum encryption standards (e.g. NIST’s ML-KEM).
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements as required

How Many Quantum Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Quantum Computing Job?

Quantum computing is one of the most exciting frontiers in science and technology — and the job market reflects that excitement. But for aspiring practitioners, the sheer number of tools, frameworks, programming languages and hardware platforms can feel overwhelming. One job advert mentions Qiskit, another talks about Cirq or Pennylane. You see references to quantum annealers and superconducting qubits, to measurement hardware and simulators, to noise mitigation libraries and cloud platforms. It’s easy to conclude that unless you master every quantum tool, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most quantum computing hiring managers won’t explicitly tell you: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you can apply the right tools to solve real problems and explain why your solutions work. Tools matter, but context, understanding, judgement and results matter more. So how many quantum computing tools do you actually need to know to succeed in a job search? The real answer is significantly fewer than most people assume — and far more focused by role. This article breaks down what tools really matter in quantum jobs, which ones are core, which are role-specific, and how you can build a coherent toolkit that employers actually value.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Quantum Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

Quantum computing is one of the fastest-evolving fields in technology, blending physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering. Roles in this space — from Quantum Algorithm Developer and Quantum Software Engineer to Quantum Research Scientist and Quantum Hardware Specialist — are highly sought after, and hiring managers are exceptionally selective. Because quantum computing is complex and multidisciplinary, recruiters and hiring managers look for clear, concrete evidence of relevant expertise and impact right at the start of your application. They often decide whether to read your CV in detail within the first 10–20 seconds, based on a handful of high-value signals. This guide breaks down exactly what hiring managers look for first in quantum computing applications, how they assess CVs and portfolios, and what you can do to optimise your application to get noticed in the UK quantum job market.

Riverlane Jobs in Quantum Computing

If you’re looking for Riverlane jobs in quantum computing, you’re aiming at one of the most important layers in the quantum stack: quantum error correction (QEC). In simple terms, Riverlane focuses on the software, methods & tooling that help quantum computers produce reliable results despite noise. That matters because as quantum hardware scales, the ability to correct errors becomes the difference between “interesting experiments” and “useful quantum computing”. This guide is written for UK job seekers who want to understand: what Riverlane does (in job-seeker language) the roles they hire for the skills that map best to their work how to tailor your CV & LinkedIn how to prepare for interviews how to find & land Riverlane vacancies in the UK You do not need to be a quantum PhD to have a realistic pathway in. But you do need to understand the problem they’re solving & position your experience around it.
