The role would suit someone who has legal experience but has not previously run their own caseload although the training and support provided mean that previous experience is not a requirement.

This is a fast paced, vibrant department and we are looking for candidates willing to take responsibility for pre-litigation elements of the recovery process. Working efficiently to ensure that the financial recovery for the client is maximised and files which do not settle are prepared for litigation and transferred in a timely manner to achieve individual, team and department targets, KPI’s.


Key Accountabilities

  • Reviewing instructions, initial correspondence to the policyholder and client and following any agreed escalation processes.
  • Organising, prioritising and handling own workload in line with standard operating procedures to ensure that critical dates are met and KPI’s and SLA’s are achieved including processing client account balances within 5 working days and transferring files to litigation by Day 28.
  • Correctly identifying quantum, liability and/or Third Party indemnity issues which warrant further investigation and transferring the file in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that files transferred to litigation are ready to be issued. 
  • Effective use of the case management system to ensure:
  • All MI is accurate and updated in a timely manner, including updating the present position following each file touch.
  • Critical dates and SLA’s are met.
  • All actions/strategies are documented by way of a file note
  • All documents in the history are clearly labelled. 
  • Delivering quality work, as a minimum meeting audit benchmark standards.
  • Driving own personal development.
  • Contributes to team effort by working collaboratively to ensure that team targets are achieved and by positively contributing to team moral
Work Hours  
35 hours per week Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. We are hybrid working and attendance is required 1 day in the office and 4 days from home


Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Essential Skills and Attributes:
  • Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and an awareness of RTA Insurer and Article 75 status.
  • Experience of working in a legal environment.
  • Demonstrate experience of and the ability to:
  • Work to set deadlines
  • Deal with calls and enquiries from clients and/or the public
  • Organise and prioritise their workload
  • Work as part of a team
  • IT literate: proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages (Excel and Word)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure 
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and set personal goals for continuous improvement.
