Rising Talent Recruitment is thrilled to offer an outstanding opportunity for a Photonics Packaging Development Engineer at Alter Technology UK, based in Livingston, West Lothian.

In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in optical and mechanical design to lead optical package development, driving innovation across high-reliability and commercial industries. You’ll oversee the full product lifecycle, from concept feasibility to large-scale manufacturing, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Strong collaboration with customers and suppliers will be key to delivering cost-effective, specification-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Optical design and simulation using Zemax or similar tools.
🔹 Component and package design, including hands-on process operations.
🔹 Manufacturing process development and new product introduction.
🔹 Design for Manufacturing (DFM), FMEA, and DOE implementation.
🔹 Project management, including tracking timelines, deliverables, and costs.

Requirements:

✔ Experience in semiconductor and/or optical component manufacturing.
✔ Degree in Optics, Engineering, Science, or equivalent industry experience.
✔ Proficiency in optical design/simulation and mechanical design (SolidWorks preferred).
✔ Experience with assembly processes, including wafer saw and epoxy solder die attach.
✔ Strong project management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
✔ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
