Use yourphotonicandengineeringexpertise to drive an exciting new project at an innovative Space Technology organisation.

The Role:

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, you will design, build, and test photonic hardware end to end for satellite telecommunication payloads, instruments, and sensors.

Evaluating Space based transceivers and harnessing solutions for high volume manufacture, you will propose EM designs and testing as part of producing high-speed photonic interconnect test solutions. Reporting into the Hardware Team Leader, you will be part of a dynamic and purpose-driven team, collaborating as part of an exciting and growing business.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in a photonic interconnect related role, ideally in the Space domain
  • Hands on experience in the design of products with SoC’s / FPGAs and high speed photonic interconnects
  • Knowledge of photonic technology, interconnect techniques and advances in the industry
  • In addition, specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Radiation effects
  • High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc)
  • Signal integrity analysis
  • Design for mass manufacture
  • Knowledge of environmental, thermal, safety and EMI/EMC standards
  • Practical use of scripting languages Tcl/Python/Perl etc


Core Details:

This is an interim contract for 6-months requiring a start before the end of May 2025. Working off a hybrid model, you will be able to get to the office in Hertfordshire 2-3 days per week.
