As part of our mission to expand our world class team at Quantinuum, we look for talented and high potential individuals to join us in internship position. In this offer, we are looking for a candidate to work on circuit optimisation using the new features of Quantinuum's software stack. The internship position has a standard duration of 3 months.

You will collaborate with a researcher in Quantinuum's TKET team, who will supervise you on a research project. Below are some examples of potential projects.

Potential research projects:

  • Quantum-classical circuit optimisation.Optimisation of quantum programs where classical and quantum runtimes interact in real time.
  • ML based quantum circuit optimisation.Examples: recommendation engine for which optimisation passes to run, or which circuit rewrites to apply to a circuit.
  • QEC-aware circuit optimisation.New challenges: fault tolerance must be respected, each QEC code has its own trade-offs and cost metrics, etc.
  • Benchmarking optimisation passes. To support ongoing development, it is vital to conduct benchmarks of optimisation techniques we and others develop.
  • When applying for this internship position, let us know if these projects or any others on circuit optimisation would be of interest to you

You must have:

  • Background.STEM with experience in computer science and programming. MSc and PhD students or undergraduates with exceptional research maturity.
  • Research skills.Search and read scientific literature, critical thinking, ability to come up with ideas independently and communicate problems effectively.
  • Prior Experience.Basic understanding of quantum circuits and linear algebra is expected. When applying, include a cover letter explaining the skills and experience that make you a good candidate for the project(s) you are interested in.
  • Can-do attitude. We look for self-motivated individuals. You will be facing cutting-edge research problems where it is easy to get stuck. Exciting? Apply!
What is in it for you?

Working alongside a highly talented team, with experienced researchers in the quantum computing industry. We offer a competitive salary for interns and a great working environment. These roles provide great development and learning opportunities to advance your career.
