We are seeking a highly-qualifiedHardware Technicianto join our team operating, maintaining, and developing H-series quantum computer at RIKEN’s Wako campus -REIMEI. This machine is a part of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry project to explore the integrated use of quantum computers and classical supercomputers, such as RIKEN’s Fugaku device. We are looking to expand our hardware team in Japan to support current and future projects as part of an integrated, global team of scientists and engineers at the forefront of quantum information science.

主な業務内容 / Key Responsibilities:

  • Hシリーズ量子コンピューターの運用、保守、開発を小規模チームの一員として担当
  • レーザーなどの特定サブシステムや、イオン・トランスポートなどの機能の監督
  • 新規および継続的な開発機会の実施を分析、レビュー、結果の提供を通じてサポート

  • Operate, maintain, and develop an H-series quantum computer as part of a small team
  • Oversight for specific subsystems, e.g. laser, and functional capabilities, e.g. ion transport
  • Support the execution of new and ongoing development opportunities through analysis, reviews, and results

必須要件 / Requirement:

  • 物理学、応用物理学、光学、工学、または関連する技術分野の学士号
  • R&D環境における2年以上のポストグラデュエート(修士号または博士号を含む)経験
  • 技術的なトピックを英語および日本語で読み書き・口頭でコミュニケーションできる能力
  • 研修や業務上の必要に応じた海外出張が可能性

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, Engineering or related technical field
  • 2 or more years of post-graduate experience (M.S. or Ph.D. inclusive) in an R&D context
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate technical topics in both English and Japanese
  • Ability to travel abroad for training or other business needs

  • Experience with atomic physics systems, superconducting qubits, or other quantum computing platforms, and constituent technologies including lasers, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum systems, and digital and analog electronics.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating individual efforts to support collective work of a team
  • Documentation, technical writing, and presentation skills as evidenced by technical presentations and peer-reviewed scientific publications
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in Japan
