Position Overview:

We are seeking aGraphene Device Physicistwith deep expertise innanoelectronics and 2D materialsto lead the development ofgraphene-based transistors and circuit elements. This equity-based role offers the opportunity to join a cutting-edge technology venture, with a competitive salary upon securing seed funding. You will play a pivotal role insolving the fundamental physics and engineering challengesof graphene-based semiconductor devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Graphene-Based Semiconductor Device Design
    • Develop and optimisegraphene field-effect transistors (GFETs)for high-speed and low-power applications.
    • Research and implementcarrier transport modelsin graphene and related 2D materials.
    • Work with semiconductor process engineers toadapt photolithography and CMOS-compatible techniquesfor graphene device fabrication.
    • Developscalable deposition, etching, and patterningmethods for integrating graphene into existing IC manufacturing.
    • Optimiseelectrode contacts, dielectric interfaces, and encapsulation techniquesto enhance graphene device performance.
  2. Advanced Computational Modelling & Simulation
    • UseTCAD, COMSOL, Sentaurus, or similar toolsto simulate electronic, thermal, and quantum transport properties in graphene devices.
    • Developmulti-physics modelsfor predicting device behaviour under various operating conditions.
    • Collaborate with IC designers to translate theoretical models into practical circuit applications.
    • Investigatenew device architectures, includingtunnelling transistors, spintronics, and neuromorphic computing elementsusing graphene.
    • Collaborate with leading universities and research institutions to stay ahead ingraphene-based semiconductor advancements.
    • Publish findings intop-tier journals and conferencesto establish 9N Technologies as a leader in graphene electronics.
  3. Technical Leadership & Strategy
    • Define thetechnical roadmapfor graphene semiconductor development at 9N Technologies.
    • Align research efforts withindustry trends, patent landscapes, and commercialisation opportunities.
    • Providetechnical mentorshipto cross-disciplinary teams working on IC design, materials science, and fabrication.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • PhD or Master’s degreeinPhysics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or Materials Sciencewith a focus on 2D materials.

Experience:

  • Proven experience ingraphene electronics, nano-device fabrication, and semiconductor physics.
  • Strong background inelectronic transport, band structure engineering, and quantum mechanics.
  • Hands-on expertise withfabrication techniques(CVD growth, lithography, etching, doping, etc.).
  • Prior work withemerging transistor technologies(e.g., GFETs, TFETs, spintronics) is highly desirable.
  • Experience collaborating withIC designers and semiconductor process engineers.

Skills:

  • Proficiency inTCAD, COMSOL, Sentaurus, Quantum Espresso, or similar simulation tools.
  • Understanding ofgraphene heterostructures, hBN dielectrics, and 2D material stacking techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills fordevice modelling and experimental validation.
  • Experience inpublishing research and patenting novel device architectures.

Compensation:

This is anequity-based role, ideal for avisionarywho wants to lead the development ofthe world’s first commercially viable graphene semiconductor devices. Acompetitive salary will be offered after securing seed funding.
