With c1750 properties and 33 million sqft of space spread across the UK, Royal Mail’s portfolio is one of the largest corporate estates in Europe. The Construction team is an integral part of the transformation and provides expertise, driving change to achieve maximum commercial value.

The role:

As the Construction Manager, you’ll lead and implement capital improvement projects from inception to completion by engaging, appointing, and managing relevant teams. You’ll be responsible for the execution of construction projects with accountability for all aspects of the development and delivery.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and drive performance of multi-disciplinary property professional teams to manage all major construction projects.
  • Deploy effective programme and project management tools and techniques with robust governance processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and measure a range of performance and control mechanisms.
  • Provide regular reporting of project performance including financial, budget, safety and project status.
  • Ensure compliance of construction projects with latest statutory, regulatory, and RMG governance and standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Manage key internal clients and partners, negotiate regarding risks or changes to the project scope.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, consultants & external vendors.

  1. Scotland, NI, North England
  2. Southwest, South Wales, West London
  3. Southeast, London, Norfolk, Suffolk and Anglia

About you:

You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your CV:

  • A track record of delivering property works and the management of a portfolio of projects.
  • Strong safety and compliance knowledge in a construction/building context.
  • Planning and programme governance skills.
  • Experience of creating, implementing and evaluating property/construction project plans.
  • A good understanding of the market and the construction industry.
  • A focus on energy and environmental awareness in construction project design.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and senior stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • First degree in a relevant subject.
  • Qualified project manager or chartered qualification in the construction field.
  • CSCS card, or as a minimum Construction Skill H&S test pass.
