Cranleigh STEM has partnered with a well-renowned engineering company that designs and manufactures superconducting electromagnets for scientific applications. The team is now recruiting for a Computational Scientist to join its team in West Sussex on a permanent basis.

Computational Scientist responsibilities

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in Physics or Engineering and will engage in a variety of tasks, including:

Design superconducting and resistive electromagnets and coil systems using advanced tools including ANSYS finite element packages. These designs will simultaneously address electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects.

Develop and maintain bespoke software for the design and testing of magnet systems.

Creating special-purpose tools using commercial software packages.

Provide expert advice and perform troubleshooting analysis to support production.
Computational Scientist requirements

Proven ability to communicate complex results effectively through written reports and spoken presentations.

Degree qualification, in a relevant discipline.

A determined problem-solver, meticulous about details, with a natural talent for identifying and correcting errors.

Ability to devise innovative solutions within challenging operational constraints.

Practical experience in magnets, cryogenics, mechanics, electronics, production methods, and collaborative work environments is highly advantageous.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £35,000 - £50,000
Benefits: 25 Days holiday + banks, Company pension, Cycle to work scheme, Free on-site parking, Referral programme, Sick pay.
Location: West Sussex
