About us

At Wave Photonics, we are building a platform to enable and accelerate the development, mass production and adoption of integrated photonics technologies. Integrated photonics can be crucial in enabling a host of applications ranging from energy-efficient communications, wearable healthcare sensors, rapid diagnostic tools, optical tensor processors, on-chip LiDAR, quantum computing and communication, and many more. We believe that many obstacles in developing these technologies can be removed using a combination of simulation, statistical modelling and optimisation techniques.

Founded in 2021, we have backing from great investors in Silicon Valley, the UK, and the EU, and are leading/contributing to multiple projects funded by the UK's innovation agency, Innovate UK. We were also successful in winning a prestigious European Innovation Council Accelerator project to develop solutions for frontier applications of integrated photonics.

We are seeking a highly driven and enthusiastic Business Development Manager to join our team and contribute to our aim of accelerating the growth and adoption of integrated photonics technologies.

Role overview

This role provides an exciting opportunity for a technical candidate to branch out and develop skills in a business-focused and customer-facing role.

The ideal candidate for the Business Development Manager position will have a technical background, a keen interest in business development/sales, and knowledge of the semiconductor and/or photonics industry!

This customer-facing role provides an excellent opportunity to improve the adoption of Wave Photonics’ products. The role will involve engaging with potential customers to utilise our components and other offerings, technical marketing such as through representing Wave Photonics at events, as well as partnership building.

Wave Photonics has developed a core computational design technology to accelerate integrated photonics design cycles and will now deploy this technology commercially, targeting customers with varied requirements from large semiconductor companies to start-ups and research groups.

In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Business Development (who has over 25 years of experience, including R&D, business development and venture capital), to engage with potential customers and partner organisations such as foundries and Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs), and help to build long-term customer and partner relationships. You will identify potential customers/partners, conduct research on organisations, reach out to various organisations and put together presentations and proposals for potential clients. You will help shape the business approach for different customer categories and enable customers to design in Wave Photonics’ components.

You will engage in discussions with customers, gather customer requirements and feedback on our products, and then provide insights from customers to the technical team. You will take a structured approach and track customer interactions in an organised manner.

You will also provide support to users of Wave Photonics’ platform and respond to enquiries.

You will stay on top of market trends and seek business opportunities across relevant markets such as telecommunications, quantum technologies and sensing.

You will attend tradeshows, conferences and other events, where you will represent Wave Photonics, promote the organisation's products and boost visibility.

You will be a core member of our small but growing team. You will be immersed in the fast-paced environment of a start-up that has ambitions to change the integrated photonics industry. We value enthusiastic people who bring a willingness to learn new things and challenge existing ideas.

  • Experience designing photonic integrated circuits is a bonus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain relationships and work with different teams
  • A bias for action
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally for business events and meetings

If you are as excited as we are about the world-changing technologies that can be enabled by integrated photonics and you want to play a key part in it, then please apply!

10 Quantum Computing Recruitment Agencies in the UK You Should Know (2025 Job‑Seeker Guide)

Quantum technology has raced from theoretical promise to practical prototype faster than any deep‑tech field in recent memory. The UK—already home to world‑class physics departments at Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and Bristol—doubled down in late 2024 by adding £2.5 billion to the National Quantum Strategy, lifting the public‑funding pot to £5.5 billion through 2030. Private capital keeps pace: Dealroom logged £1.1 billion in UK quantum‑venture funding during 2024, while corporates from BP to Barclays spun up quantum‑proof‑of‑concept teams. Despite the cash surge, the sector’s headcount remains tiny. Research by the UK Quantum Skills Taskforce (Lightcast job‑ad data, June 2025) counts about 8,000 quantum‑skilled professionals nationwide—spread across algorithm research, cryogenic hardware, photonics, quantum‑software and adjacent DevOps. Yet monthly live vacancies average 120 – 150 nationwide, occasionally peaking near 200 when multiple start‑ups raise Series A rounds simultaneously. That mismatch turns every credible opening into a high‑stakes contest, and the right recruiter can be the difference between a generic rejection email and a signed offer. But not every tech agency truly “does” quantum. Many wave the buzzword without a single qubit vacancy on the books. To protect your time—and your CV—we vetted 60 + firms and kept only those with rock‑solid evidence of quantum‑computing placements: live job ads, dedicated practice pages, conference sponsorships or original salary research.

Quantum Computing Jobs Skills Radar 2026: Emerging Frameworks, Languages & Platforms to Learn Now

Quantum computing is no longer a future concept—it’s a fast-growing industry with real-world applications in materials science, cryptography, optimisation, and drug discovery. Welcome to the Quantum Computing Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your annual guide to the programming languages, frameworks, libraries & platforms shaping the UK quantum jobs market. Whether you’re transitioning from physics, software engineering or data science, this radar shows you what to learn to stay ahead.

Quantum Computing Jobs UK: 2025 Guide to Hidden Roles

Quantum computing is one of the most exciting and disruptive fields in science and technology. As the UK invests in a national quantum strategy—with funding for hardware, software, cryptography, and applications—demand for quantum talent is growing rapidly. But here’s what most job seekers miss: many quantum computing roles are never posted on public job boards. Instead, opportunities are shared quietly through research partnerships, industry working groups, spinout collaborations, and professional bodies. In this guide, we’ll show you how to access hidden quantum computing jobs in the UK. We’ll explore how to use membership directories, SIGs (Special Interest Groups), CPD events, and project funding announcements to gain visibility, build relationships, and find roles long before they’re advertised.
