Recognised as one of the top 20 startups across all categories worldwide at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024—and backed by top-tier organisations like SOSV and Entrepreneur First—we’re pushing the boundaries of biochemistry and nanotechnology to revolutionize personalised health.

Founded by two seasoned engineers, we bring extensive experience in R&D, technical innovation, and commercial strategy to transform the way people monitor their health. Our mission is bold: to revolutionise health management by delivering clinical-grade data directly to individuals, wherever they are.

We’re seeking driven innovators to join us in pushing the boundaries of biosensing and health tech, making personalised health monitoring a reality for everyone. To achieve this ambitious vision, we’re assembling the best team in the world—dedicated to turning cutting-edge science into life-changing, real-world solutions.

About The Role
We are excited to welcome a biosensor scientist with a strong background in lateral flow assay R&D and experience in working with aptamers to join our rapidly growing start-up. The ideal candidate is expected to be proficient in bench and wet chemistry techniques. Moreover, they should have sound knowledge and experience in assay development and nanoparticle surface modifications (biomolecules, small molecules). It is essential for the candidate to have extensive experience in aptamer-based nanogold colorimetric biosensor R&D, including the designs, operation principles, troubleshooting, and analysis.

This is a full-time, in-person role primarily based in London.
Some examples of what you might do:

  • Perform conjugation procedures between nanoparticles, aptamers, proteins, and small molecules, as well as the optimisation of such procedures for meeting performance parameters in assays
  • Validate aptamer biorecognition and the performance of functional gold nanostructures in different biological medium using colorimetric assays
  • Fabricate biosensor devices: working on prototype iteration all the way to mass manufacture
  • Develop and execute protocols for different morphologies of gold nanostructures

Analyse and organise raw experimental data as technical reports.

  • Work closely with the nanobiosensor team leader for work progress towards R&D milestones
  • Attend R&D-related trainings and seminars for continuous updates on the latest trend in hormone sensing technologies

What You Bring

  • A Ph. D. degree in material science, biomedical engineering, bionanotechnology or related discipline, with a focus in aptamer nanobiosensors. Post doctoral experience will be a plus for this role

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the following areas:

  • Knowledge and experience in lateral flow assay development
  • Proficiency in wet chemistry laboratory techniques, including nanomaterial characterisations and liquid-handling techniques
  • Experience and a deep understanding in gold nanostructures: their use in biosensors, synthesis, and the opportunities for surface modifications
  • Strong experience in assay development, particularly in unlocking key hurdles (non-specific binding, signal-to-noise enhancement, optimising assay binding conditions)
  • Expertise in the R&D of colorimetric nanobiosensors and aptamer biorecognitions
  • Understandings of aptamers and small molecules handling skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience in gel electrophoresis and blotting methods
  • Experience in metallic nanostructure analytical skill: ICP-MS or ICP-OES

Who You Are

  • We value culture as much as we value technical expertise, creating an environment that’s equal parts collaboration, curiosity, and fun

We’re a fast-paced, mission-driven young team on a quest to make a lasting impact, fueled by uncompromising integrity, unwavering support for one another, and the thrill of exploring uncharted territories. Our passion for excellence drives everything we do, and we welcome individuals who share our commitment to shaping the future.

If our vision excites you, here are the qualities we look for:

  • You live and breathe integrity, tackling challenges with honesty and transparency
  • You’re a self-starter who loves diving into the unknown, collaborating on complex problems, and taking full ownership of results
  • You excel at open, clear communication and see every piece of feedback as a springboard for growth—especially in a science and data-focused environment
  • You’re motivated by creating real impact, particularly when it comes to advancing human health
  • You strike a balance between independence and collaboration, knowing when to seek support or invite others to join in
  • You’re confident in defending your ideas, while also valuing respectful, constructive debate as a path to better solutions
  • You thrive in the dynamic atmosphere of a startup, constantly evolving your skill set and fearlessly applying what you learn

What We Offer

  • A full-time role with a competitive salary and equity options, reflecting our value in your expertise and potential
  • An environment where you’ll collaborate directly with the founding team at a leading biosensor startup, gaining access to industry experts and thought leaders
  • The chance to grow with us, including ample opportunities for leadership, career advancement, and exploration
  • Travel to New York and other potential sites for R&D purposes
  • The excitement of working on cutting-edge technology, shaping strategic decisions, and driving innovation at an early-stage venture alongside a superstar team

Be Part of Our Journey
If you're ready to be at the forefront of biosensing innovation and thrive in fast-paced, learning-rich environments, we'd love to hear from you.

If your skills and experience do not align perfectly with this role, yet you believe you have something unique to offer, we're keen to listen. Reach out to us with a short statement on how you can contribute and let's discuss where you might fit into our team.Seniority level

How Many Quantum Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Quantum Computing Job?

Quantum computing is one of the most exciting frontiers in science and technology — and the job market reflects that excitement. But for aspiring practitioners, the sheer number of tools, frameworks, programming languages and hardware platforms can feel overwhelming. One job advert mentions Qiskit, another talks about Cirq or Pennylane. You see references to quantum annealers and superconducting qubits, to measurement hardware and simulators, to noise mitigation libraries and cloud platforms. It’s easy to conclude that unless you master every quantum tool, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most quantum computing hiring managers won’t explicitly tell you: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you can apply the right tools to solve real problems and explain why your solutions work. Tools matter, but context, understanding, judgement and results matter more. So how many quantum computing tools do you actually need to know to succeed in a job search? The real answer is significantly fewer than most people assume — and far more focused by role. This article breaks down what tools really matter in quantum jobs, which ones are core, which are role-specific, and how you can build a coherent toolkit that employers actually value.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Quantum Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

Quantum computing is one of the fastest-evolving fields in technology, blending physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering. Roles in this space — from Quantum Algorithm Developer and Quantum Software Engineer to Quantum Research Scientist and Quantum Hardware Specialist — are highly sought after, and hiring managers are exceptionally selective. Because quantum computing is complex and multidisciplinary, recruiters and hiring managers look for clear, concrete evidence of relevant expertise and impact right at the start of your application. They often decide whether to read your CV in detail within the first 10–20 seconds, based on a handful of high-value signals. This guide breaks down exactly what hiring managers look for first in quantum computing applications, how they assess CVs and portfolios, and what you can do to optimise your application to get noticed in the UK quantum job market.

Riverlane Jobs in Quantum Computing

If you’re looking for Riverlane jobs in quantum computing, you’re aiming at one of the most important layers in the quantum stack: quantum error correction (QEC). In simple terms, Riverlane focuses on the software, methods & tooling that help quantum computers produce reliable results despite noise. That matters because as quantum hardware scales, the ability to correct errors becomes the difference between “interesting experiments” and “useful quantum computing”. This guide is written for UK job seekers who want to understand: what Riverlane does (in job-seeker language) the roles they hire for the skills that map best to their work how to tailor your CV & LinkedIn how to prepare for interviews how to find & land Riverlane vacancies in the UK You do not need to be a quantum PhD to have a realistic pathway in. But you do need to understand the problem they’re solving & position your experience around it.
