Project Details

A long-established multidisciplinary disputes consultancy is looking to expand its operations in Leeds. They are seeking an Associate Director with Quantum experience within the construction and engineering sector.


The construction consultancy and dispute related service they provide include commercial management, planning, dispute resolution and expert witness services.


Typical projects they provide services on include civil engineering, road, rail, building and PFI projects.

As part of your role as Associate Director, Quantum you will be expected to work with a variety of clients from government organisations to contractors and subcontractors, across a range of sectors within the construction industry.

Responsibilities and Duties

As an Associate Director within a leading multidisciplinary disputes consultancy, typical job duties will include:

Developing and expanding business opportunities through utilisation of your own network of contacts and building new networks as part of your business development responsibilities


Undertaking the forensic analysis of tender, contract and claims documentation
Carry out independent preparation of claims for loss and expense
Perform independent preparation of adjudication documentation
Take responsibility for drafting written reports, setting out process, conclusions and recommendations
Administer Standard Forms of Contract (JCT/NEC/FIDIC)
Provide strategic advice at all stages of the construction life cycle

Most Associate Director duties and responsibilities will be able to be carried out from the Leeds office however, some meetings may have to be undertaken at different locations across the UK.

Desired Skills and Experience

It is expected that suitable candidates for the role of Associate Director would have relevant skills and experience to be able to undertake the role. Key criteria are likely to include

Approximately 10 years experience including extensive experience within construction disputes


Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of dispute resolution procedures and principles of contract law
Extensive experience of major construction and engineering projects
Proficiency in preparing, assessing and interrogating construction costs
Experience of preparing Adjudication documentation
Experience in preparing (or assisting with) Expert Witness Reports
Exceptional communication skills in English both written and spoken
Ability to operate and administer Standard Forms of Contract (JCT/NEC/FIDIC)

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

Suitable Associate Director candidates will ideally be:

Degree qualified


Ideally MRICS qualified or equivalent
Have achieved or be working towards a Construction Law MSc or Post Graduate Diploma (or equivalent)
