Job Title: Applications Engineer
Location: Yorkshire based
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 DOE + benefits

A fast-growing technology innovator in the optoelectronics space is looking for an Applications Engineer to join their expert team. The company is building a suite of high-performance infrared detection solutions that power next-gen sensing, imaging, and communication applications, from autonomous navigation systems to 3D imaging and high-speed optical links.

Following a major round of private funding, they are now scaling their engineering and technical support teams to deliver world-class solutions to a global client base.

This role would suit an engineer with experience in photonics, semiconductors or advanced sensor systems who enjoys working with cross-functional teams and helping customers get the best out of cutting-edge technology.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working with customers, sales teams and product groups to support and resolve technical enquiries

  • Providing application-level support across the existing and future product range

  • Running lab-based tests and evaluation activities to validate performance

  • Helping to develop training materials, datasheets and technical documentation

  • Delivering evaluation kits and demonstrating reference designs at customer sites and trade events

  • Feeding market feedback into future product plans and roadmaps

    Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

  • A degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optoelectronics, or a related discipline

  • At least 3 years’ experience in semiconductor, photonics, or data/telecoms environments

  • Background in Applications, Evaluation, or Design Engineering

  • Understanding of analog/mixed-signal circuits, optical sensing, and high-speed comms systems

  • Familiar with tools such as circuit simulation software and lab instrumentation

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: APDs, photodiodes, LiDAR, advanced optical sensors, or PCB/schematic design
